I.   Introductions & Opening Comments – Jeff Muchow

                 A.        Welcome and Introductions

                 B.        Looking for the following adult volunteers: Quartermaster, Adult Recognition Coordinator,

                             Prairie Star Elementary Unit Commissioner; also need for volunteers at District level (J Muchow)

                 C.        Chuck Gibson has expressed a desire to transition out of his current role as Quartermaster

 

II.  Leawood Lions – Chris Wright

 

III. Scoutmaster/SPL Update

                 A.        Garrett Shropshire

                 B.        Kevin Tenny

                                         – review of meal plans; scout determined plan; progressive responsibility;

                                         – need to stress that patrols are responsible for breakfasts (2)

                 – ASPLs to assist with planning to ensure each patrol is prepared

                                         – Discussion of how to ensure the food for each patrol gets to the campout

                             • Make sure this is covered in JLT

                                                     • Add to communication prior to each campout

                                                     • How can the training be expanded / increased

                                                     • Kevin – new communication process Wed prior to campout (phone/email)

 

IV.            Outdoor Activities (Camping/Grubmaster) – Scott Brown/Chris Pfeiffer

                 A.        October Campout – Camporee

                 – Scott Brown – all set for Camporee

                                                      – 140 parents and scouts plus a few Webelos (8 or so plus parents)

                                         – Scouts will participate in all planned activities

                                                     – Webelos to be assigned to patrols to accompany them throughout the day

                                                                 need to be sure a plan is in place to

                 B.        Haunted House – To be discussed at next PLC meeting (10/17).

                 C.        November Campout – Feast – Location Update

                                         Owners contacted that Camp Ernst is closed month of November.

                                         New location is Camp Naish @ Cub World pavilion. (water/power/light/parking)

                 D.        December Campout – PLC decided on Landau Park; Reservations have been made.

                 E.        January Campout – Snow Creek confirmed.

                 F.         February Campout – Contacting Omaha Zoo to see if we can get in.

                 F.         2013 Philmont – Blake Williams will submit both Troop’s and Venture crew’s applications. 

 

V. Bartle Draw Update – Tracy Thomas

                 A.        June 18-27 confirmed.  2nd session.

 

VI.            Equipment Coordinator – Chuck Gibson

                 A.        All but 3 tents are out to the patrols.  Do we need more tents for backup?

                                         – Announcement @ 10/10 to remind those not going to Feast to get their tent to others who are

                                         – Motion to buy additional tents to get the backup tents to 10. (seconded and passed)

                 B.        Chuck to follow up with recommended repair procedures for existing problem

 

VII.           Membership – Renee Andrews

                 A.        Most crossovers will be at the end of January.

                 B.        Meet the Webelos night at JCC a few weeks ago.  Some interest from schools not of recent feeder pack.

                 C.        28 Webelos @ Shooter Safety

                 D.        Who is the owner of the Webelos @ Camporee?  8 from 2 troops coming.

                                         – Renee will handle reception duties but scouts need to accompany Webelos throughout the day

 

VIII.          Advancement – Julia Day

                 A.        Eagle Candidates – Lane Christenson has officially taken over this role.

                                         – Everything is on track for the Eagle Court in November

                                                     Matt Boresow, Chase Thorpe and Ryan Thomas are confirmed to go

                                                     Alex Rose and Carter Herman passed second District Roundtable and should be ready as well

                                                                 They will be up for Eagle boards on Thursday, 10/20

                 B.        Fall Eagle Court – Lisa Harrison

X. Finance – Treasurer’s Report – John Martin/ Rob Day

                 A.        Treasury Update

                                         – Ample balances in Troop Account and PayPal account    

                                         – 1st Bartle payment made

                                         – A/P is in good shape

                 B.        Fall Fund-raising

                             1. Popcorn Sales Update – Diane Roening

                                         – Pickup Friday 11/11 from 3-5:30 or 11/12 from 8-12 @ Fry Wagner warehouse (15560 W 110th St)

                                         – 10/24 meeting is the deadline for submissions

                             2. Greenery – Karrin Berkowitz

                                         – Sales go through this Wednesday

 

XI.            Honor Programs

                 A.        O/A  – Rob Baker

                 A.        Next outing 11/23 @ Negro Baseball Museum / Arthur Bryant’s

                 B.        Starting an aviation Venture Crew (Leawood Lions COR)

                 C.        Working on a culinary Venture Crew (8 interested youths)

 

XIII.          High Adventure – Howard Berkowitz – Boundary Waters Update

                 A.        New Opportunity – local troop (92) looking for volunteers for a 2011 Philmont horseback riding adventure

                 B.        2013 Philmont (see above) 

                 C.        Looking to finalize High Adventure (non-Bartle) for 2013

                 D.        2012 Boundary Waters – 3 crews are almost full with verbal commitments (but no deposits)

                                         – deposits due shortly (11/15)

                 A.        Email from Herb – reminder to update training

                 B.        Cleaning Adult Leader Roster to ensure we are not paying for those who are not active

 

XVI.         HOAC Annual Recognition Dinner – Nov. 16 – 6:30PM

                 A.        $45 – signup online

                 B.        Downtown Marriott

                 C.        T10’s own Bill Haner being awarded Silver Beaver Award

                 D.        Herb to send a note out on this.

 

XVII.        New Business/Open Discussion – All

                 A.        Need to be aware of perception of harshness at Troop Meetings

                                         – too much noise in the back of the room

                                         – use a microphone?  $5 from Blue Valley per meeting.  Voted a “go”.

                 B.        Task force of 4 people to address the structure and content of troop meetings

                                         – Barbara Koziol, Charlie Loudon, Mark Bagby and Jim O’Hara
